During our final sewing bee, We were delighted to host The Men’s shed Penrith for morning tea.
This gave us an opportunity to thank them for the incredible work they did in creating a large bully display system for our blankets.
It also gave them an opportunity to explain to our attendees what The Men’s Shed does within the community.
The Mens shed is a community based non for profit space that brings men together to create, share social connections and improve mental health and wellbeing.
As a fun bit of trivia, John explained to us that there are more Men’s Sheds in Australia than there are McDonald’s restaurants!
He’s right! Within Australia, The Men’s Shed boasts 1,200 sheds nationwide, while McDonalds operates within 1,078 restaurants. What an interesting tidbit!
