Lynette Visited us at The Creative Fringe last week to bring in completed blankets for the challenge.
While she was here, I was able to pick her brain and learn a little bit more about her! Now you can learn more about her too, lucky you!
Lynette has only been a TOTS registered volunteer for a short time, but she has proven to be a lovely addition to our ever growing family!
During her very first time at The Creative Fringe, she had already brought in 2 completed blankets, (late December 2025) since then she has brought in many more and we could not be more grateful for the effort Lynette has put in to give to those in need.
Lynette has been a penrith local for over 50 years, having lived in the same house for this entire period. now THAT’S commitment!
Lynette was taught by her wonderful Nan to crochet and has been doing so since the age of 6. Amazingly, her Nan was blind but that did not stop the tradition of handcrafted art to be passed down.
She would teach Lynette to crochet just by voice and touch alone!
I think this shows truly, just how special it is to be able to bond over craft and share the love through generations. Now, Lynette uses her skills to crochet for the TOTS Blanket Challenge!
Asking Lynette about any personal projects that she was working on or favourite items that she or her Nan had made, Lynette spoke about a little chicken pot handle cover and a cozy.
I asked if she would bring them in to our sewing bee yesterday and I was very happy to see that little chicken head make its way into our space yesterday. Of course, I HAD to have photos.
It was truly lovely to get to know Lynette a little more, and we cannot wait to see what crafts and blankets she has in store for us!
