Another sewing bee has been and gone, and with it, comes new faces sharing their love of the craft to help those in need!
Karen and Angie joined us on the 6th of May for their very first sewing bee with us!
Angie, having known about The Creative Fringe for a while, had found our TOTS posts and decided to participate in the sewing bee and brought her mother, Karen along as well!
Angie, was taught how to knit and crochet by her grandmother when she was just 7 years old, where she would visit fortnightly! She believes it was a way to keep a child busy, but it is amazing to see the wonderful art of hand craft be passed down through the generations! Angie’s Mother, Karen, also taught her how to sew and cross stitch too.
Karen, on the other hand, has not knitted for a very long time but says that once you get back into it, it comes back to you very quickly. Being an Indigenous artist, Karen already possesses a great talent for craft, and hopefully we can encourage her to join us in our worthy cause and get them both to more sewing bees in the future!
It is always wonderful to meet new people at each sewing bee, and it is just as great to see familiar faces returning to our sewing bees!
