Lyn’s Blind Nan Taught her to Knit and Crochet

Lyn has been knitting and crocheting for 70 years!

She grew up in Bermagui where her nan taught her to knit and crochet. The amazing part of this story is that Lyn’s nan was blind due to a stroke that resulted in her optic nerve being damaged. Lyn was only 6 years old and has loved the craft every since.

She saw our awesome Christmas tree in the Panthers foyer and fell in love with it. She started watching what we were doing on social media, but still she held back from joining our challenge.

It was only when she finally saw an article in the Nepean News that she decided it was time to join in, so she came along to our final sewing bee for 2025. She mentioned that everyone in her family now has a blanket so it’s great to have the challenge to focus her attention on. Lyn has already managed to donate 2 gorgeous blankets in that short time and has vowed to continue crocheting for next year.

Thanks for joining our TOTS Blanket Challenge.
